Study: Nearly 90% of biomedical papers show signs of AI assistance
The use of AI in scientific writing may be far more widespread than previous estimates have suggested. In a new study, almost nine out of ten biomedical papers from December 2025 showed linguistic signs of AI assistance, Nature reports.
The figure was so high that the researchers initially thought something had gone wrong.
“I was sure we had done something wrong,” Dmitry Kobak, a computer scientist at Ghent University in Belgium and one of the researchers behind the study, told Nature.
Further checks, however, produced the same results.
